0 Bar(s) Serving Troegs Scratch 136

Style: Amber/Red Ale
Origin: Hershey, PA
Brewery: Troegs

Beer enthusiasts have no doubt heard of the Irish Red Ale, a style that originated in early 18th Century Ireland, as well as the American Red Ale, a hopped-up variation on the style. Well, we’re always looking to put the Troegs stamp on existing beer styles, and Scratch #136 definitely straddles the line between Irish and American, with a bit of German thrown in for good measure. Brewed with three malt varieties including the complex, robust Vienna malt, this Red Ale exhibits a pleasant toasty character amid sweet traces of caramel and toffee. However, Scratch #136 is aggressively bittered and further dry-hopped with German Northern Brewer hops to crank up the IBUs a few notches. The result is a cross-pollination of three distinct brewing cultures united into a single beer – a Red Ale for the craft beer enthusiast from either side of the Atlantic! 7.2% ABV.
